About

We teach the part of hockey nobody explains

Skill development is everywhere. Understanding is not. Overload Hockey is built around the reads, structure, and decisions that separate players who look fast from players who think fast.

Players spend years on edges, hands, and shooting. Then they get to a higher level and discover that the gap isn't skill — it's speed of thought. They're a half-second late on the read, a step out of position on support, or guessing at what the system wants from them.

That gap is teachable. It just requires someone to slow the game down, name what's happening, and connect the concept to film and to practice. That's the whole job here.

Every piece of content follows the same shape: what the situation is, what to read, what your options are, and how to train it. We use the terminology coaches actually use, and we explain it instead of assuming you already know it.

Players

Learn what to look for before the puck arrives, and why the option you didn't take was still the right read.

Coaches

Teach structure with language your whole room understands, and back it up with film and drills that match.

Parents

Follow what your player is being asked to do, so the car ride home is about understanding instead of the scoresheet.
